Silas and I are in Colorado. Amy, Mia and Remy flew down kind of spur-of-the-moment for Amy's birthday. Silas and I drove them back last week. Ashley will fly here on Friday and we will head back to OK on Sunday. I've had a really good time and it's been much easier than last time. Silas is more independent and he minds better (sometimes!). I love watching him learn new things. His speech is still pretty primitive. I can understand more of what he says than anybody, but he seems to leave out or change the second syllable on a lot of words. Amy's dog is named Marlee and he calls her Marmot. He says Mia VERY clearly now. :) He misses Ashley and is calling Chris "dad". He crawls up on the couch and snuggles up to Chris like he does with Ashley at home. It's cute but at the same time, it makes me sad a little. He has started telling me "no" when I tell him to do things. It's not so much fun. When I get on to him or make him do something he doesn't like, he sits down on the floor and screams. It's horrible. I just leave him there until he stops, and sometimes I have to swat him for directly disobeying. Yuck...that's frustrating. He's starting to put thoughts and words together and I think it's fun to know what's going on in his little head. He says "mayamess" when he's dirty, or other people are dirty or he sees something messy at home. My favorite is when he says "da-ee, mayamess" (daddy made a mess). He is associating people with places. He will say "MarMi, house" or "Mia, house". He gets very excited when we pull up to my parents house and shouts "OH NO!!! Mar-ee, Da Da-ee!" He loves to watch fish in tanks and I am hoping to get a small tank for his birthday. He calls fish, peesh. When we pray, he holds his hands up to his forehead, palms out (hands making the sign language "b"), and says "amen" when we finish. When ever we serve food, he holds his hands up and says "pay". Same for when I am rocking him at night. For a little while, he was calling both his pacifer and his dipey, "pai", but this week he has starting saying "paci". He has learned the motions to "River of Life". Some of his favorite things to eat: bananas, green beans, sweet peas, graham crackers, weiners with cheese, bean burritos, cheeseburgers with only the bottom bun, scrambled eggs with cheese, yogurt, spaghetti, and pancakes.
Some things I forgot about when he was little, but remembered recently. When we were putting him down to sleep, he had to have his dipey OVER his face. If we didn't put it there, he would do it in his sleep. He also had a sleepy song. When we would bounce or rock him to sleep, he would make noise to keep himself awake: uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh. The first time he laughed out loud was when Ashley rubbed his goatee on the bottom of Silas' feet. His first tooth came in on May 12th, 2008. I gave him his first hair trim, and Marla has done it twice. I am taking him to a salon for his first "boy" hair style before his 2nd birthday party.
Need to stop for now, but will hopefully post again soon...
